Re Roofing and Roof Replacement in Ballarat

Ballarat roofs work harder than most. Frost, driving rain, hail and long dry spells all pull at the same sheets, fixings and flashings, and the older housing stock through the city was never built for the weather it sees now. Clifton Roofing & Cladding is a local, family owned team that replaces those roofs properly, from tired miners cottages in Ballarat East to new builds out through Alfredton and Lucas.

Most of our work is full re roofing in Colorbond, tile to tin conversions and roof replacement on homes where patching has stopped paying off. We strip the old roof back, check the frame and battens, replace anything that has failed, then install new sheets, sarking, flashings and gutters as one system. You get a fixed written quote, one team on site from start to finish, and a roof that is detailed at the points where roofs actually leak.

Fully licensed and insured, working across Ballarat and Central and Western Victoria.

    Full re roofs

Old sheets and tiles removed, frame and batten checked, new Colorbond installed with fresh sarking, flashings, gutters and capping so the whole system works together.

    Re roofing and roof replacement

    Tile to Colorbond

The most common upgrade we do in Ballarat. Heavy, porous tiles come off, the roof gets lighter, quieter in hail and far easier to keep watertight through a Victorian winter.

    Tile to tin conversions

    Metal roofing

Colorbond and Zincalume across new builds, extensions and replacements, detailed properly at the ridges, valleys and penetrations where roofs usually fail first.

    Metal roofing

    Architectural cladding

Standing seam, interlocking panel and Alucobond facades for homes and commercial frontages, installed by the same team that does the roof.

Signs your roof needs replacing, not patching

    • Leaks that keep coming back in different spots after each storm.
    • Rust through the sheets, especially along laps, gutters and the valleys.
    • Cracked or slipping tiles with crumbling pointing along the ridge.
    • Sagging lines in the roof plane or soft, rotted battens.
    • Damp stains on ceilings and cornices, or mould in the roof cavity.
    • Asbestos cement sheeting that is chalking or breaking up.

Roof replacement questions we get asked

How much does a roof replacement cost in Ballarat?

Cost depends on roof size, pitch, access, the sheet profile you choose and whether the existing roof holds asbestos. A straightforward Colorbond re roof on a standard Ballarat home usually lands well under the cost of a rebuild, and we quote line by line so you can see exactly what is included before you commit.

How long does a re roof take?

Most residential re roofs run between three and seven working days once we start on site. Tile to Colorbond conversions take a little longer because the old tiles come off, the battens are reset and the frame is checked before new sheets go on.

Should I replace or restore my roof?

If the sheets or tiles are sound and the problem is surface rust, broken pointing or tired coating, a restoration is the cheaper fix. Once you have repeat leaks, sagging battens, widespread rust through or failed valleys, replacement is the option that actually solves it.

Do you handle asbestos roof removal?

Yes. Older Ballarat and district homes still carry asbestos cement roofing and eaves. We arrange licensed removal and legal disposal, then re roof in Colorbond so the whole job is handled by one team.

    Which areas do you cover?

We are based in Ballarat East and work right across Ballarat, the goldfields and Central and Western Victoria, including Buninyong, Creswick, Daylesford, Bacchus Marsh, Ararat and the districts in between.
